Weekend Fun

Suddenly, our social calendar for this weekend is jam packed! It's been a while since we've had a cultural weekend in Pittsburgh, or a weekend in Pittsburgh for that matter. I've managed to leave town four times in the past 2 months, visiting friends and family before the little miracle arrives.

Unless you live under a rock, you've seen the posters or read the reviews about the delayed and highly anticipated Handmade Arcade indie craft show. Free admission at this one-day event Saturday, April 16th at the convention center. Can't wait to get my letterpress fix and see other creative little trinkets.

The other must-do this weekend is the bi-annual Dance Alloy Main Stage show, Where We Are Going, with a special reflection of the past 35 years of the Alloy. Tickets are available for Friday, Saturday or Sunday performances, to be held at their East Liberty studio.

And lastly on our calendar is a performance not likely well-known around here or in the states, but having seen this German singing sensation perform in his home country, I knew this would be an entertaining performance to attend. Max Raabe & Palast Orchestra look and sound reminiscent of the 1920s, however their repertoire spans the generations to include interpretations of todays favorites (both in English and German). They will be performing as part of their One Cannot Kiss Alone tour this Friday night at the Byham Theatre.

Pretty sweet song and cute video. Plus who can resist a muppet?
